Yves Thiery

lawyer

Limburg bar

Mr. Thiery has a wealth of experience as a lawyer in discrimination cases. At the beginning of his career, he worked as an assistant at KU Leuven, where he conducted research on the issue of discrimination in insurance. His work culminated in a doctoral thesis that he defended in 2010.

Afterwards, Mr. Thiery joined the Brussels Bar, where he assisted clients both domestically and internationally in the broad field of discrimination law, insurance law and liability law. He also served as an arbitrator.

At the beginning of 2019, Mr. Thiery left the bar for a role as HR & Risk Manager at a Belgian family business, where he was responsible for the coordination and development of the HR and risk policy within the Belgian and French branches.

From October 2023, Mr. Thiery joined the Mploy firm as a lawyer, where he focuses on labor and social law in a broad sense, with special attention to discrimination law issues and an extensive background in insurance law.

Mr. Thiery regularly published in domestic and international journals and authored the book Discrimination and Insurance. In addition to his legal practice, he is an active volunteer firefighter and serves as a director in a school group. He was also a member of the Belgian Insurance Commission as an expert. Furthermore, he has extensive teaching experience, including at the Universities of Leuven and Antwerp.

Mr. Thiery graduated with honors from KU Leuven in 2002 and obtained a Doctor of Laws degree from the same university in 2010. He thereby gained further experience at research institutions and universities in Germany, Canada, and South Africa. He combined his work as a lawyer with a teaching assignment as a visiting professor at the University of Antwerp. During his tenure as HR & Risk Manager, he also served as a judge in social affairs.
